According to the Microsoft Store, Black Ops Cold War will take up 100.04 GBs upon release. In preparation for the Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War multiplayer reveal, Activision has revealed the upcoming game’s file size. This additional space means a longer update for Xbox One users. Instead of strictly downloading and installing the update, Xbox Ones require additional space to be allocated for the download.

Sadly, Xbox One players have felt the effects of the increasing file size worse than their PlayStation 4 counterparts. This generation, Call of Duty file sizes have become a burden to Xbox One and PS4 players. Gamers are lucky if the newest Call of Duty file size takes up less than 80 GBs of space upon the game’s release. Back then we thought that was a lot, but now it feels like a joke compared to current circumstances now. At the end of the last generation, Call of Duty Ghosts took up less than 50 GBs of hard drive space. Back on Xbox 360 and PS3, you could download the latest Call of Duty and its map pack within a relatively small file size. Over the last decade, video game file sizes have grown exponentially.
